The 2008 Olympic Diving trials touched down right here in Knoxville this past July! The nation’s finest divers converged on the Allan Jones Intercollegiate Aquatic Center July second through sixth to compete for the remaining spots on this year’s Olympic team. The selection camp was the first event to be held at the recently completed Aquatic Center. The remarkable facility is the result of the University of Tennessee Men’s and Women’s athletic departments collaboration to create the massive complex. The Aquatic center features one of the fastest collegiate competition pools in the country, a separate competition diving well equipped with platforms up to 10 meters, and seating to accommodate up to 3,800 persons. The 2008 U.S. Olympic Diving team was announced on July 7, 2008 next stop: Beijing, China. For more information on our Olympic visitors or the upcoming games, visit http://en.beijing2008.cn.
