Understated Oppulance

BY YVONNE FODEN

Ann describes herself as a southern girl and stylized her home around the comfort of her family and guests. When hearing her guests exclaim “This house looks just like you” it is just what she hoped for. She pays tribute to her aunt Blanch, affectionately known as Bebe, as her inspiration, remembering visits to her home when she was a young girl. High on a hill in deep west Knoxville, the Hinkle’s dream home is built of stone and mortar and is enhanced with molded concrete window, door surrounds, and balusters around the wide inviting front porch and back terraces, reminiscent of French Normandy style. Entering the large foyer through double-beveled glass doors, the Hinkle’s guests are greeted by a curving staircase lit by a striking crystal and iron chandelier. An elegant dining room sits to the right and is furnished with French antiques. Bathed in golden hues to add warmth to an area rarely used by most families, the Hinkle’s enjoy this space for more intimate affairs. Gracious, domed-ceiling hallways lead you to various areas of the house and draws your attention to the handsome moldings and built in cabinetry. Read the rest of the story in our March 08 issue!
