After 28 years
as an
assistant coach, Knoxville
native HollyWarlick ascended
to head coach of the Lady Volunteers
basketball team for the 2012-2013
season. A graduate of Bearden High
School,Warlick played basketball for
the University of Tennessee under
Pat Summitt. In 1985,Warlick joined
Summitt’Äôs staff. DuringWarlick’Äôs first
year as head coach, the teamposted a
27-8 and reached the NCAA Elite Eight.
’ÄúI talk to Pat Summitt all the
time. She is at practice every
day. I love her being around and
the team loves her being around.
The kids love hanging out and
talking to her. She is still very
much still a part of Tennessee
women’Äôs basketball. I wouldn’Äôt
have it any other way.’Äù

Tyler Summitt, 22,
a graduate
of the University of Tennessee
and son of legendary Lady Vols
basketball coach Pat Summitt, is
entering his second season as an
assistant basketball coach for the
Milwaukee-basedMarquette Golden
Eagles women’Äôs basketball team. He
was married this summer toAnDe
Ragsdale, his long-time girlfriend.
’ÄúOver the past year, I’Äôve been
putting my mom’Äôs ideas
into practice. And by the
way: she is doing great. I
talk to my both my dad and
my mom at least once a day.
Mom loves the golf course,
the pool, the dog’Äîand since
she used to have game days
on Sundays, she gets to go
to church now more often!’Äù

’ÄúArts in the Back,’Äù page
128] and very impressed
with the quality of
his work. The project
brought up so many
wonderful memories. I
sincerely appreciate his
talent, time, and effort.’Äù
LadyVols basketball
head coach
emeritus Pat Summitt won eight NCAA
championships from 1974 through 2012, and
she is currently the record holder for most
wins in NCAA basketball history with 1,098.
After she announced her retirement in 2012,
Summitt was awarded the Presidential Medal
of Freedomby President Barack Obama.
Summitt spends much of her time now
devoted to the Pat Summitt Foundation,
which focuses on awareness, advocacy, and
research about Alzheimer’Äôs disease.
