You’Äôve said you feel like the only person
on the
Titanic
who knows it’Äôs going down. How is the
national
Titanic
doing?
lewis black:
It’Äôs really remarkable that we’Äôre still
afloat. Detroit just went bankrupt! It’Äôs beyond
comprehension. The
Titanic
is not only sinking,
but there’Äôs no compass.
cv:
Is it too depressing to be funny, or so bad
that there’Äôs an abundance of material?
lb:
At some point, you have to step back
and laugh. If you don’Äôt, that’Äôs it’Äîthe ball
game is over. You don’Äôt have the energy
to go on. For me the person, it’Äôs harder
to laugh’Äîbut for me the comic, the
abundance of material is staggering.
cv:
What can we expect at your
Knoxville show?
lb:
I would imagine the same happy,
Christian type of comedy! No’ÄîI’Äôm
doing a special right now, ’ÄúOld Yeller.’Äù
But by the time I get to Knoxville,
it will literally be a different
show. Something will come up
about healthcare’Äîor about
education, which always drives
me nuts. There’Äôs a big chunk
about legalizing pot. And always,
somebody will have done or said
something that will spark another ten
minutes of my rage. ’ÄîS.H.C.
